Oz, NZ net stock up on TVF factual

Broadcasters in Australia and New Zealand, including pay TV outfit Foxtel and pubcaster SBS, have acquired factual content from London-based distributor TVF International.

As ever, royal content has proved popular on the international market, with Inside Windsor Castle going to Foxtel and SBS in Oz and Sky Prime in New Zealand.

The four-part observational doc was co-commissioned by Channel 5 in the UK and US cablenet Smithsonian and is the sequel to Inside Buckingham Palace from Red Planet Pictures and Wildfire Television.

Foxtel has also taken CBC crime doc Looking for Mike (1×44′) and Channel NewsAsia’s ISIS: Road to Radicalisation (2×47′).

Bloomberg TV’s contemporary art series Brilliant Ideas (75×30′) found homes across the territory in Foxtel and Sky Arts.

Australian pubcaster ABC scored CBC’s Sugar Sisters (1×44′), which explores the global phenomenon of ‘sugar dating’ (where women seek out wealthy men who pay for their companionship) and BBC’s Confessions of a Sex Addict (1×57′); while New Zealand’s TVNZ picked up Antidote Media’s Suicide & Me, Dangerous Dogs and Hidden & Homeless, all three of which aired on BBC3 and were fronted by Stephen Manderson, aka rapper Professor Green.

National Geographic has bought a package of history titles, including History’s ground-breaking WWII: Forgotten Ally (1×60′), the story of the Pacific War between Japan and China.

TVF International division head Harriet Armston-Clarke said: “TVF International has a long history of providing quality programming to our partners across the ANZ region and it is encouraging to see an ever-growing appetite for our heartland genres of arts, history and current affairs.”
