Oz, Asia dig up Tutankhamun doc

MIPCOM: Broadcasters in Australia and Asia have acquired a factual special about the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun from Germany’s Red Arrow International.

Tutankhamun: The Truth Uncovered, originally produced by Scotland’s STV Productions for BBC1 in the UK, claims to reveal the truth about the boy king behind the golden mask who died aged 19.

The pharaoh was discovered in his tomb in 1922 and the circumstances surrounding his death, which ended the most significant dynasty in Egyptian history, have remained a mystery and a topic of debate ever since.

Australian public broadcaster SBS has acquired the programme while Discovery Asia has signed a pan-regional deal.

The doc was produced in association with Cream Productions and coproduced with The Smithsonian Channel and Discovery Canada.
