OWN orders Greenleaf creator’s drama

Craig Wright’s Greenleaf looks at the goings on around a Memphis church

US cable network OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has placed a straight-to-series order for an original drama series from Greenleaf creator Craig Wright.

Delilah revolves around a headstrong, highly principled lawyer living in North Carolina. Charles Randolph-Wright and Cheryl Dunye are among the directors confirmed to be working on the series.

The show is being produced by Warner Bros Television and Harpo Films and will premiere on OWN in 2021. Wright, Randolph-Wright and Oprah Winfrey will serve as exec producers on the project.

OWN president Tina Perry said: “On the heels of the incredible success story of Greenleaf, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Craig on this compelling new drama. Our viewers are going to deeply relate to this story that focuses on a powerful woman committed to her family and her community.”

Delilah joins Discovery-owned OWN’s slate of dramas that includes Queen Sugar, Cherish the Day, David Makes Man and The Haves & The Have Nots.
