OWN, Lionsgate develop Greenleaf spin-off

Greenleaf looks at the goings on around a Memphis church

US production studio Lionsgate and cable network OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network are set to develop a spin-off series based on the drama Greenleaf.

The drama takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their Memphis church, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. The series premiered on OWN in 2016.

Greenleaf is produced for OWN by Lionsgate in association with Harpo Films and Pine City. The executive producers are Oprah Winfrey, Craig Wright, Clement Virgo and Kriss Turner Towner.

Wright and Winfrey intended the Greenleaf story to span five seasons, with Wright contemplating a spin-off. These plans accelerated when fans expressed their support for the show after its final season was announced.

Further details on the spin-off are yet to be revealed.
