Ovation sets off with All3Media’s Travel Man

MIPCOM: US arts network Ovation has taken broadcast and digital rights to a package of five factual shows from All3Media, including UK broadcaster Channel 4’s Travel Man.

The agreement covers broadcast and digital rights for its linear channel Ovation, on-demand service Ovation NOW and recently launched travel-focused AVoD service Journey.

Comic travelogue Travel Man will debut on Journey and air on Ovation’s linear channel and Ovation NOW. The show follows director, author and actor Richard Ayoade as he spends 48 hours in various destinations, each with a fellow performer.

Previous episodes have taken him to cities including Istanbul with comedian Adam Hills, Marrakech with Stephen Mangan and Hong Kong with Jon Hamm.

Other shows in the deal include Stealing Van Gogh (1×60’), The KAWS Effect (1×30’), arts-themed reality series Fake or Fortune (14 x 60’) and Antiques to the Rescue (3×60’), which are destined for Ovation’s linear channel and Ovation NOW.

Scott Woodward, exec VP programming at Ovation, said the All3Media package “really hits upon all our strategic programming hot buttons right now. Journey is a big focus for us as the service has grown substantially in the past year. Travel Man is an exceptional series that is funny and culturally relevant.”

The deal follows Ovation’s volume factual deal with Sky Vision earlier this week.
