Ovation makes original drama push

US arts-focused network Ovation TV has become the latest broadcaster to move into original drama after ordering its first scripted series for development.

Hot Art is  adapted by Simeon Thornton (Sovereign) from the non-fiction book Hot Art: Chasing Thieves and Detectives through the Secret World of Stolen Art by Canadian journalist Joshua Knelman. The TV drama is said to offer a contemporary take on the world of art crime.

The series will be produced by Storyscape’s Bob Cooper, with Sandy Shenkman overseeing development for the company. Cate Weber will oversee development for Ovation TV.

“We are thrilled to work with Bob Cooper at Storyscape Entertainment on the first scripted series we are developing at Ovation TV,” said Ovation CEO Charles Segars.

The network focuses on arts and culture programming and recently secured all four seasons of CBS’s scripted show The Tudors as well as the second season of Canal+ drama Versailles.
