Vanishing Kings – Lions of the Namib

MIPCOM: Austrian pubcaster ORF’s distribution arm has chalked up multiple sales for its blue-chip Universum brand.

Sales include a five-title package to Nat Geo International’s Explora channel in Canada. The titles included are wildlife film Vanishing Kings – Lions of the Namib, ultra-HD 4K documentary Wild Venice, Return of the Hoopoe, The Wild Balkans and The Dolomites – In the Heroes’ Garden. The latter has also been picked up by Finnish pubcaster YLE.

Swedish pubcaster SVT has taken Vanishing Kings – Lions of the Namib, along with Africa’s Wild West, which has also been acquired by Iceland’s RUV.

Elsewhere, Italy’s Rai Uno has taken Triumph of the Tomato and documentary The Voynich Code.

Al Jazeera has acquired several hours of documentaries for its MENA feed, including the historical docudrama Gonsalvus – The Real Beauty and the Beast, and a number of current affairs titles.

Other sales include the documentary Interfaces – Our Digital Life to Canada’s RDI and France’s AB Droits. AB Droits has also picked up historical documentaries First on Mount Everest and Prisoners of War. Meanwhile, French factual channel Ushuaia has taken four episodes of John Murray’s Last Nomads.

For the first time, selected ORF Universum content will also be available to audiences worldwide on the recently launched SVoD factual platform curiositystream.com, launched by Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks.
