Orange TV to debut first original drama

French telco Orange has teamed up with Spanish prodco The Mediapro Studio to produce the first drama series for its Orange TV platform in Spain.

Under the partnership, The Mediapro Studio’s prodco 100 Balas will produce an “adrenaline-packed, gender-based series targeting younger audiences,” created and written by José A Perez Ledo.

Ledo has written two novels – Esto no es una historia de amor and Un lugar al que Volver – and is also the creator and director of entertainment format Órbita Laika and the screenwriter for several other programmes for Spanish television.

Production on the as-yet-untitled series is scheduled to begin this fall.

“The Mediapro Studio’s tried and tested experience in the field of production makes it the best travel companion we could have asked for to launch the first series project for our television platform,” said José Antonio Guzmán, director of Orange TV.

Alejandro Flórez, general manager of 100 Balas, added: “It’s excellent news to be accumulating new partners in content production here in Spain, which is experiencing a real golden age for series with international projection.”
