Caminantes, an eight-episode horror series set along famous walking trail the Camino de Santiago, will be directed by Koldo Serra (The Backwoods, Guernica, 70 Big Ones).

The found-footage show centres on a group of young hikers (caminantes) who disappear on the trail. The “adrenaline-packed, gender-based series targeting younger audiences,” has been created and written by José A Perez Ledo, a novelist who is also the creator of entertainment format Órbita Laika.

Filming begins this week, with the series starring some of Spain’s best-known young actors in Alexandra Pino, Daniel Ibáñez, Carlos Suárez, Songa Park and Lucas Miramón.

Caminantes will premiere exclusively on the Orange TV platform at an as yet-undisclosed date. The series was first mooted back in September.

100 Balas is expanding into the horror genre with this commission, having previously been better known for comedies such as Pepe’s Beach Bar for Mediaset, Olmos & Robles for RTVE and Vote Juan for TNT.
