Ohm goes on Style Date to Turkey

Following its renewal by Irish-language network TG4, Ohm:tv has sold the Style Date format into Turkey, where a major 104-part local version is currently in pre-production.

Turkish TV broadcaster Digiturk and Sera Film Services are behind the local production, which is destined to air on Digiturk’s new lifestyle channel, S’nek. The channel will launch on the broadcaster’s satellite platform on September 25.

Created by Austrian format writer Erwin Kreuzer and first produced for free-TV channel TG4 by Galway-based production house Magma, Style Date challenges three male candidates with completely different lifestyles to shop for a brand-new outfit for an unknown woman. Germany’s Ohm:tv shops the property internationally.

Separately, Ohm:tv has signed a licence deal with Lebanon-based free-TV channel Future TV for its new honeymoon quiz Love is in the Air. The format has been developed in collaboration with Holland’s Pulse Music Support and will begin its first Middle East season with 13 episodes.

In the show, five newly weds are asked to board the plane to their dream destination – but only one couple will get the chance to enjoy their honeymoon.

Ohm:tv MD Joris Eckelkamp said of the Middle-Eastern adaptation: “It is an interesting challenge to adapt our formats to local tastes and cultural values in the region.”
