Objective’s Farrell heads for BBC

The BBC’s in-house comedy unit has hired UK prodco Objective Productions’ Ben Farrell as an executive producer. Farrell, currently head of comedy at the All3Media-owned company, will join BBC Comedy in September.

He will report to comedy production controller Myfanwy Moore, who joined the public broadcaster from commercial rival ITV in March to replace Mark Freeland.

During his tenure at Objective, Farrell exec produced and produced comedy shows including Toast Of London (Channel 4), Game Face (C4), Parents (Sky1), Big Bad World (Comedy Central), Pete Versus Life (C4), Kerry (BBC3), Felix & Murdo (C4) and Reggie Perrin (BBC1).

Between 2005 and 2008, he was Objective’s head of comedy development. Prior to that, he was at Talkback where he was a development producer/executive producer and worked on various shows including What Women Want (Five) and The Glee Club (BBC2).
