Norway’s Magnus makes way to France

English and Norwegian versions of Magnus are available

MIPCOM: M6- and TF1-owned French cult series network Serieclub has picked up a Norwegian comedy from UK-based distributor Hat Trick International (HTI).

Off-beat comedy Magnus was originally produced by Viafilm, the company behind international hits Norsemen and Lilyhammer, for Norwegian pubcaster NRK.

The 6×30’ series was created by comedy performer Vidar Magnussen (Side by Side). Two versions of the series were shot, with one in Norwegian and the other in English.

Serieclub will air a dubbed version of the Norwegian series later this year thanks to a deal announced at Mipcom this week, brokered by HTI’s Sarah Bickley and M6 Group’s Eugénie de Bonnafos.

The English-language version of Magnus is being launched to the international market at the Cannes event. A sci-fi crime and comedy thriller set in Norway, Magnus focuses on an idiotic but brilliant former detective who tries to solve a murder rooted in Norse mythology.
