Nordic nets nab Cineflix shows

Finestripe Productions’ space exploration doc The Day We Walked on the Moon

Nordic broadcasters have picked up more than 200 hours of programming from UK-based distributor Cineflix Rights.

The Day We Walked on the Moon (1×60’), from Finestripe Productions for ITV and Smithsonian Networks in the US, has been picked up by TV4 (Sweden), DR (Denmark), Neolonen (Finland) and NRK (Norway).

It explores the inside story of the first moon landing 50 years ago, told from the first-hand perspective of key figures on the Apollo 11 mission and those left behind.

NRK has also bought Sinking Cities (5×60’), which follows local planners, first-responders, scientists and engineers as they battle climate change. It was produced by Cineflix Productions for PBS in the US and RMC in France.

NRK has also added The Wall (6×60’), from Rondo Media and JTV for S4C (Wales) and TG4 (Ireland), which explores six of the world’s most iconic walls and borders.

TV4 has added Cineflix Productions’ true-crime series Children of the Snow (4×60’) and Paramedics: Emergency Response (12×30’), from Fahrenheit Films for CityTV Canada, which follows first-responders as they race through the streets to answer 911 calls.

Elsewhere, WWII’s Great Escapes: The Freedom Trails (4×60’), from Seadog Productions for Channel 4, was acquired by SVT, Viasat World Nordics and DR, with the latter also picking up Creative Differences and Vulcan Productions’ The Cold Blue (1×60’).

Finally, NRK added Going to War (1×60’), from Vulcan Productions; Discovery Nordics acquired lifestyle show Property Brothers (S1-7, 169×60’); and Stöð 3 Iceland bought Brother vs Brother (S4-6, 18×60’).

Sandra Piha, senior VP of programme sales, pan-regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia at Cineflix Rights, said the deals highlighted the “highly competitive market” in Scandinavia.
