Nickelodeon swims with Baby Shark

Baby Shark attracted 5.7 billion views on YouTube

Nickelodeon has revealed more details about its animated preschool series based on the viral Baby Shark music video.

Baby Shark’s Big Show! (working title) will debut with a half-hour holiday special this December, with a 26×30′ series set to follow on the ViacomCBS-owned network’s platforms in 2021.

Coproduced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and SmartStudy, the 2D-animated series will follow Baby Shark and his best friend as they enjoy fun-filled comedic adventures in their community of Carnivore Cove, meet new friends and sing original catchy tunes along the way.

Baby Shark launched on YouTube in November 2015 and amassed 5.7 billion views and becoming the second most-watched video in the platform’s history.

Baby Shark’s Big Show! is executive produced by Gary ‘Doodles’ DiRaffaele (Breadwinners) and Tommy Sica (Breadwinners), with Whitney Ralls (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls) serving as co-executive producer.

The series is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, with production overseen by Eryk Casemiro, senior VP at Nickelodeon Preschool.

It joins other preschool series on Nickelodeon such as Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, Bubble Guppies and Blaze & the Monster Machines.

Nickelodeon is also home to SpongeBob SquarePants; Paw Patrol; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Blue’s Clues & You!; the first SpongeBob spin-off, Kamp Koral; The Smurfs; and an animated Star Trek series.
