Nickelodeon launches primetime block in Taiwan

Nickelodeon Networks Asia has joined forces with Eastern Broadcasting Company’s Eastern Television (ETTV) channel to launch a three-hour localised Nickelodeon children’s programming block in Taiwan.

Starting Monday, September 18, new primetime block YoYo Nick will debut Mandarin-language versions of popular Nickelodeon properties, namely Dora the Explorer, ChalkZone and SpongeBob SquarePants. It will make the programmes available to more than 4.6 million households across Taiwan via ETTV’s dedicated children’s channel, YoYo TV.

YoYo Nick will comprise an episode of each of the three shows being broadcast on YoYo TV from Monday to Friday between 15.00 and 16.30, with repeats the following morning for Dora and Chalkzone from 09.00, and at 23.00 for SpongeBob.

YoYo will work closely with Nickelodeon’s creative team on the overall look and content of the block, with one daily episode of each show complemented by original Nickelodeon shortform and interstitial programming.

Terry Lee, senior VP of programming at EETV, said: “YoYo TV is Taiwan’s most watched children’s channel, with the safest content and programming for our youngest viewers.

“We are confident that the collaboration with Nickelodeon to launch the YoYo Nick block will bring valuable kids programming hours to parents and children, along with a brand new TV watching experience of top quality animations.”
