Nickelodeon cooks with Tiny Chef

The Tiny Chef was created by Rachel Larsen and Adam Reid

US-based children’s broadcaster Nickelodeon has ordered a culinary series designed for kids and fronted by popular stop-motion character the Tiny Chef.

The Tiny Chef Show (working title) will see the Tiny Chef – who has developed a following via shortform stop-motion videos online – prepare simple plant-based recipes.

It will be produced by Nickelodeon alongside Imagine Kids+Family, the kids’ production arm of Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment. The show will premiere on Nickelodeon’s preschool platforms in the US and its Nickelodeon and Nick Jr channels internationally.

It will be exec produced by Howard, Grazer and Imagine Kids+Family president Stephanie Sperber, alongside Morgan Sackett, Tiny Chef creators Rachel Larsen and Adam Reid and cinematographer Ozlem Akturk for Tiny Chef Productions.

The Good Place star Kristen Bell is also among the show’s exec producers, having entered a partnership with The Tiny Chef after discovering the property on social media.

The Tiny Chef Show marks Nickelodeon’s second project with Imagine Kids+Family, following the previously announced live-action series The Astronauts.

Production of The Tiny Chef Show for Nickelodeon Animation Studio is overseen by Eryk Casemiro, senior VP of Nickelodeon preschool, and for Imagine Kids+Family by Elly Kramer.

In a joint statement, Grazer and Howard said: “We have worked with some of the biggest stars in the business, and we could not be more excited to also now work with the tiniest. The Chef and his team have created a vibrant, inclusive and community-based world and we at Imagine are thrilled to share it with audiences, big and small.”
