Announced today at the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield, the deal between Zodiak Kids and Britt Allcroft Productions, the company owned by the British-born film and TV producer, will cover the development of Mumfie as a new animated TV series by Zodiak Kids Studios.

Magic Adventures of Mumfie was an animated kids’ TV series of 79 episodes and a movie created by Allcroft. It was first shown in the UK in the 1990s on CiTV and in the US on Fox Kids.

Lead character Mumfie is an elephant who is joined on his adventures by a variety of animals and birds including a whale and a flying pig, plus some pirates and his trusty sidekick Scarecrow.

Zodiak Kids Studios was launched in April, bringing together all Zodiak’s kids’ production in France and the UK.

It consists of Zodiak-owned French production companies Marathon Media and Tele Images Productions and UK-based The Foundation, and is overseen by industry veteran Michael Carrington.
