ZDFE boards TV2 thriller Grow

Grow will debut on TV2 Play and TV2 Zulu

ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE), the commercial arm of the German pubcaster, has boarded Danish broadcaster TV2’s new  drama series as a coproducer.

Grow, produced by Denmark-based Rocket Road Pictures and Sweden’s SF Studios, follows a young stockbroker who, dissatisfied with his ordinary life, is captivated by the underworld of drug dealing as he delves into his deceased father’s past.

His hunger for power leads him to set up a cartel with the ambition of becoming Denmark’s top drug lord. But his two worlds collide when he faces his brother, a drugs unit police officer who is also trying to come to terms with who he really is.

The eight-part drama, titled Alfa in Danish, will premiere this month on TV2 Play and TV2 Zulu.

It is written, directed and produced by brothers Mehdi, Milad and Misam Avaz, founders of Rocket Road Pictures, marking their first foray into television.

SF Studios will distribute Grow in Scandinavia, with ZDFE retaining global distribution and format rights in the rest of the world. ZDFE will launch the series during Mipcom in October.
