Eva Kamin has been promoted to VP of acquisitions and coproductions at Germany’s ZDF Studios, with incumbent Volker Lehmann set to retire at the end of the month.

Kamin, who is currently director of acquisitions and coproductions, takes over Lehmann’s role on July 1 and will be based in Mainz.

Trained in law, Kamin started her career as a freelance attorney in 2005, before joining ZDF Studios as director of legal affairs in 2006. In that role, she was responsible for contract management across ZDF and its commercial arm, ZDF Studios.

Kamin was elevated to director of acquisitions and coproductions in 2011, overseeing scripted series licenses and international copros, as well as framework agreements and partnerships.

Lehmann has worked for ZDF Studios for more than 30 years and is leaving to “pursue new challenges.”

Since 2013, he has been head of the ZDF acquisitions and copros department, which negotiates the commercial terms of all ZDF fiction and documentary acquisitions and coproductions.

The role also includes overseeing licences for the company’s family of channels, including Franco-German cultural channel Arte, 3sat, kids’ offering Phoenix and digital channels ZDFneo and ZDFinfo.

Dr Markus Schäfer, president and CEO at ZDF Studios, said: “We are delighted to have Eva Kamin as our new head of department. She has many years of knowledge of the market and ZDF’s partners and excellent relationships with international business partners.

“At the same time, we would like to thank Volker Lehmann for his many years of service as an experienced international programme buyer and head of department. With his commercial and programming expertise and his personality, he has earned the respect of all our business partners.”
