ZDF, int’l nets meet the Clangers

The original Clangers was produced by Smallfilms for the BBC

German broadcaster ZDF and a number of other networks in Europe and Asia have picked up preschool series Clangers.

Coproduced by the BBC’s preschool brand CBeebies in the UK, Coolabi Group and Smallfilms, Clangers follows a family of lovable, pink, mouse-like creatures who live in space on the Little Blue Planet.

The series is a reboot of the original show produced by Smallfilms for BBC1 in the 1960s and 70s, and is distributed internationally by Jetpack Distribution.

ZDF has acquired all three seasons of the reboot for its main channel and children’s net KiKa, while they will also be available on its online platforms including FVoD channel ZDFtivi.

Elsewhere in Europe, Czech pubcaster Česká Televize has picked up the free TV rights to S3 of Clangers, while Croatia’s HRT has bought the free TV and VoD rights to S1 and Slovenia’s RTVS has renewed the free TV rights for the S1.

In Asia, Singaporean pubcaster Mediacorp has acquired the free TV rights to S2-3.
