YouTube preps Alicia Keys, K-Pop shows

YouTube’s latest slate of new and returning original programming includes a project with singer-songwriter Alicia Keys and a docuseries about K-Pop.

Produced by Banger Films, K-Pop Evolution studies the global music phenomenon that has become a US$10bn industry, while the untitled project with Keys will be produced by Westbrook Media.

Elsewhere, the Google-owned platform has commissioned a docuseries titled Supreme Courts, starring rapper Quavo as he explores communities through the lens of local streetball courts. The series has come out of the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund and will be produced by Critical Content.

Rounding off the slate of new shows are Black Renaissance, a special from the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund; docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil, focusing on the US pop star; an untitled interactive special with YouTube creator Markiplier; and four-parter If I Could Tell You Just One Thing, with YouTuber Patricia Bright.

Finally, recommissions include new instalments of racial justice show Bear Witness, Take Action; the second season of Glad You Asked; the second season of Create Together, which features actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises); and the second season of Retro Tech.
