YLE cues Kew Media trio

YLE has acquired season two of Frankie Drake Mysteries

Finnish public broadcaster YLE has picked up three shows from Kew Media Distribution, including biopic The Radical Story of Patty Hearst.

Female-led drama series The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco (8×60’) and Frankie Drake Mysteries (season two, 10×60’), have also been acquired by the channel.

A Bat Bridge Entertainment production for CNN, The Radical Story of Patty Hearst (6×60’) chronicles the transformation of Hearst from heiress to terrorist in a saga of privilege, celebrity, politics, media, revolution and violence.

The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco is an Omnifilm Entertainment production in association with BritBox and World Productions. It follows two of the original series’ lead characters as they travel to America during the social change of the mid-1950s.

Frankie Drake Mysteries is a CBC original series developed and produced by Shaftesbury in association with CBC and UKTV. Set in 1920s Toronto, it follows the city’s only female private detectives as they take on the cases the police won’t touch.

Elsewhere in Scandinavia, SVT in Sweden and NRK in Norway have also picked up The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco and The Radical Story of Patty Hearst from Kew Media Distribution, part of Kew Media Group.

NRK has also secured a package of documentary specials including Dealt (1×85’), from Keep On Running Pictures and Ralph Smyth Entertainment, telling the story of 62-year-old blind magician Richard Turner.

Closing Gambit: 1978 Korchnoi Versus Karpov & The Kremlin (1×85’), from Screenbound Pictures, centres on the political undercurrent that surrounded the controversial 1978 World Chess Championship as the two Russian players engaged in a bitter rivalry on and off the board.

Finally, Denmark’s DR has also secured The Radical Story of Patty Hearst and Dealt alongside the real-life story of the Golden State Killer, Unmasking A Killer (6×60’), from Joke Productions for HLN.
