UK multi-channel broadcaster UKTV has picked up an engineering series for its factual channel Yesterday as it aims to broaden its unscripted output.

Impossible Engineering (6×60′) will become one Yesterday’s flagship shows of 2015, and “paves the way for the channel’s expansion into broader factual content,” according to Adrian Wills, the channel’s general manager.

The series, which will begin airing in May, is produced and distributed by UK production firm Twofour and looks at the history of pioneering modern-day mega structures.

Each episode uses 3D graphics, archive and specially shot footage to detail how giant structures, record-beating buildings and the world’s most cutting-edge ships, trains and planes are built and work.

Other factual programming Yesterday has planned for this year includes Battle Factory, Secrets of the Bible and another season of the Raiders of the Lost Past.
