Today, we hear from Brendan Foley, creator of new David Thewlis-led drama Sherlock & Daughter, and Starlings Entertainment execs Chris Philip and Karine Martin about the innovative financial and development model behind it.

Sherlock & Daughter is a new period drama putting a twist on Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective, when he’s confronted by a young woman claiming to be his offspring.

From writer Brendan Foley, the show is set for The CW in the US and Discovery+ in the UK & Ireland, while presales have been secured with a string of broadcasters in Scandinavia and Australasia, with Federation Studios representing rights elsewhere.

Starring David Thewlis, Blu Hunt and Dougray Scott, the series comes from Los Angeles-based Starlings Entertainment, Albion Television and StoryFirst, with shooting taking place in Dublin, Ireland, ahead of launch in 2025.
