World of Wonder adds Drag Race spin-off Bring Back My Girls to WOW Presents Plus

World of Wonder format Secret Celebrity Drag Race

A reunion show featuring contestants from various versions of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the latest spin-off from the hit format heading to the streaming service from World of Wonder, which is taking a slate of drag-themed entertainment formats to Mipcom.

Bring Back My Girls will debut on World of Wonder’s WOW Presents Plus on October 18 and showcases the reunions of RuPaul’s Drag Race casts who previously missed out due to Covid-19, including queens from seasons one and two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The seven-part series was filmed at RuPaul’s DragCon LA in April 2022 in front of a live audience.

It comes as World of Wonder gears up to attend Mipcom in Cannes this month, with co-founder and producer Fenton Bailey heading to the market alongside Sally Miles, director of international formats.

Its slate of formats includes Secret Celebrity Drag Race, make-up competition format Painted with…, factual entertainment makeover show Drag U and dating show 24 Hours of Love.

The duo will also be looking to expand on the growing portfolio of international Drag Race versions, which so far include the UK, Canada, France, Spain, Holland, Italy, the Philippines, Australia/New Zealand, Thailand and forthcoming shows in Sweden and Belgium.

Bailey said: “The Drag Race franchise continues to defy expectations with its exceptional growth, popularity, social activity and critical acclaim, thanks to its uniquely broad demo.

“This new slate of proven formats are perfect for different markets, able to showcase local talent hitherto ignored by traditional media. The universal themes of overcoming prejudice, rising to challenges, and creative resourcefulness are universal in their appeal. The humour, joy and love they bring something audiences all around the world are understandably thirsty for.”
