UK indie Woodcut Media has hired Meriel Beale as senior exec producer of factual entertainment.

Meriel Beale

In the newly created role, Beale will be responsible for ramping up Woodcut’s factual entertainment offerings, focusing on developing original formats and securing commissions within the UK and internationally.

She will also expand Woodcut’s focus on the comedy factual genre, which is a new area for the prodco.

Beale was responsible for producing the original pilot of hit format Through the Keyhole with Keith Lemon for ITV and went on to exec produce further series.

She was also series producer for season two of Curve Media’s travelogue series Motorhoming with Merton & Webster on Channel 5 and series editor for Harry Hill’s prodco Nit TV’s Britain’s Greatest Obsessions for A+E Networks.

Further series producer/exec producer/series editor credits include Hat Trick’s comedy format The Time it Takes (BBC One) with Joe Lycett and Alison Hammond, The Pride of Britain Awards (ITV), I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now! (ITV Studios), as well as many other unscripted shows including live studio, documentaries, travelogues and gameshows.

Beale also founded Unseen on Screen, an anti-bullying project for the TV industry, and is currently mentoring for Dermot O’Leary’s Learning the Ropes project to encourage under-represented people into the industry.
