Woodcut International reveals true crime and history doc sales to global buyers

The Manhattan Project in Colour

Finnish broadcaster YLE, Hungary’s Spektrum TV, RadioCanada, MENA’s Asharq Networks and BBC Select have all acquired war-themed factual title The Manhattan Project in Colour.

The 1×60’ doc details the nuclear weapons research and development program undertaken during the Second World War by the US, in collaboration with the UK and Canada.

The deals were announced by UK distributor Woodcut International, which also revealed further sales in the run-up to Mipcom.

A+E Networks has snapped up true crime series How I Caught the Killer (S2-S4) and The Killer Within; while Noah TV has licensed WW2: Women on the Frontline and Paranormal Captured (S1&2, plus a special).

BBC Select has secured US rights to Britain’s Railway Empire in Colour (2×60’); Asharq Networks bought Titanic in Colour; and Dox TV has acquired 30+ hours of history and true crime content including Mengele Unveiled (3×45’, Picasso Films), The Suitcase Murders, How I Caught the Killer and The Killer in My Family.

Finally, Spektrum TV has boosted its factual slate with new additions Mengele Unveiled, Secret History of WW2 and Royals on the Frontline.
