Canada’s Wildling Pictures options best-selling thriller novel Woman on the Edge

Toronto-based film and television prodco Wildling Pictures has optioned the international best-selling novel Woman on the Edge by Samantha M Bailey with coproducer Little Mama Media for a series adaptation.

The psychological thriller will join Wildling’s growing slate of scripted TV series, following the launch of its TV division last year.

The story focuses on a woman who becomes a murder suspect when the CEO of a powerful athletic brand hands her a baby, begs her to take it, then jumps in front of a train – with no witnesses around to corroborate the story.

Further details about script writers and casting are set to be announced later this year.

Wildling Pictures has produced a range of original feature films including Young Werther, starring Alison Pill, Douglas Booth and Iris Apatow, and See For Me, starring Kim Coates and Jessica Parker Kennedy.

Its TV slate includes the screen adaption of bestselling book A Death at The Party by Amy Stuart with screenwriter Joanne Sarazen (Backspot, Tammy’s Always Dying).

Fellow Toronto-based firm Little Mama Media’s TV slate includes the CBC Gem and ITVX series Something Undone with Madison Walsh (The Expanse) and Michael Musi (Kim’s Convenience), Billy Campbell (Cardinal), and Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale).
