Wildlife and nature FAST channel Earth Touch TV launching on DirecTV in the US

Earth Touch has 15,000 hours of HD and 4K footage

Wildlife and factual entertainment producer Earth Touch is bringing its free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel to the US after linking up with pay TV and streaming operator DirecTV.

Earth Touch TV will be made available on the MyFree DirecTV platform, which features over 90 FAST channels across a wide variety of genres.

Supported by its tech partner Amagi, the expansion into the US follows the channel’s arrival in the UK in May 2023 on Samsung TV Plus, LG channels, Rakuten, TitanOS, Vidaa and Bolt+.

It is also available in the Netherlands, Nordics, Poland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa across various platforms.

Earth Touch TV features blue-chip natural history content from around the world. It will launch in the US with a series of special hour-long premieres focusing on big cats in the wild, including Shadow Cats, Lion Brother: Cubs to King and The Flooded Desert, with additional, seasonally-focused specials joining the channel over the coming months.

Also coming to the service are four seasons of Earth Touch’s wildlife reality show Snakes in the City, as seen on National Geographic Wild.

Earth Touch, which has a production hub in South Africa, has an extensive archive of over 15,000 hours of HD and 4K footage.

Lara Cox, group chief operating officer at Earth Touch, said: “Launching Earth Touch TV has provided an exciting new vertical for our company, creating fresh ways for viewers to dive into our vast slate of programming celebrating the wild, as well as opportunities to work with fantastic production partners on new content.”
