Wildbrain to shop 2D preschool toon Hey Toma from Hangzhou Younuo in China

MIPCOM: Canada-based global kids and family entertainment company WildBrain has signed up to distribute new 2D preschool series Hey Toma from China’s Hangzhou Younuo Animation.

Hey Toma aims to encourage the expression of emotions through colours

The deal, which excludes mainland China and Russia, was announced here in Cannes by Anne Loi, executive VP of commercial and corporate strategy at WildBrain, and Zhang Lei, CEO of producer Hangzhou Younuo Animation.

In China, Hey Toma (26×8’) is available on streaming platform Mango TV.

The show centres on the adventures of four unique ‘Colour Boos’ characters, whose colour-changing abilities, imagination and friendliness help others in the Colour World to solve their daily challenges.

Developed over five years, the series has been designed to encourage empathy, teamwork and diversity and the ability to express emotions with the help of colours.

Hey Toma is directed by Daytime Emmy winner Dalton Grant Jr (Shrek 2, Duck Tales, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run) and written by Peabody Award winner and Daytime Emmy nominee Dan Clark (Yo Gabba Gabba!, We Be Monsters), who also served as creative consultant.

The series features music composed by Emmy winner Gigi Meroni.
