Wild West arrives in Europe, Oz

Broadcasters in Europe and Australia have picked up UK prodco Tin Can Island’s factual series Wild West with Ray Mears from distributor Sky Vision.

The 3×60’/8×30’ series follows survivalist Ray Mears as he explores how the landscape of North America shaped the story of the Wild West. The show will air on Sweden’s Viasat, SBS and Foxtel in Australia and VRT in Belgium.

Elsewhere, the distribution arm of UK satcaster BSkyB has sold Spring Films’ psychic special Secret Life of Uri Geller (1×60’/1×90’) to Globosat (Brazil), Nippon TV (Japan), VPRO (Netherlands), VTM (Belgium), Telewizja Polska (Poland), MTV (Finland), DR (Denmark), The Arts Channel (New Zealand) and Channel 8 (Israel).

Wedding Island (6×60’), from Jersey Shore producer 495 Productions, has been sold to Discovery UK, National Geographic Channel Latin America and Mediacorp’s Toggle service in Singapore.

Finally, Asylum Entertainment’s The Capones (10×30’), which follows the restaurant business of a family related to gangster Al Capone, has been picked up by Discovery Networks Latin America, Iceland’s 365 Midlar and MTV3 Finland.
