Wiebke Schodder to oversee non-fiction for Netflix German-speaking region

Global streamer Netflix has appointed Wiebke Schodder as its new director of non-fiction for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH).

The post has been open since Inga Leschek was appointed programme director at German broadcaster RTL and its streaming service RTL+.

Schodder worked for ProSiebenSat.1 from 2009 to 2021, initially as a senior editor. This was followed by various management positions in which she was responsible for the development and implementation of the cross-station digital strategy as well as the factual portfolio of Sat.1 and Sixx.

In 2016, Schodder was promoted to head of Sixx until she took parental leave at the beginning of 2021. She did not return to the company and left Seven. One in November 2021.

The move to Netflix reunites her with former ProSiebenSat.1 colleague Katja Hofem, VP of content, who was also head of Sixx from 2010 to the beginning of 2013.

Hofem said: “With Wiebke, we have been able to win over an absolute dream candidate, who herself has implemented numerous exciting projects in practice as a media manager for many years and who at the same time has helped shape the German TV landscape in subsequent management positions. She is an experienced media professional with a distinct instinct for the needs of the audience. We are looking forward to working with her and continuing Netflix’s successful course in DACH.”
