Known for series such as UK broadcaster Channel 5’s Wissper and Australian show Tashi, the company has appointed Wendland as president of Discreet Arts USA based in Burbank.

The new outfit will focus on the expansion of the company’s 2D and CGI-animated work-for-hire services for children’s and family content, including film, television, gaming, apps for Android and iOS, and interactive publishing.

Previously, Wendland was VP of animation and head of creative growth development at French company Technicolor’s LA office, where he developed French-Canadian series Atomic Puppet.

Before that he was at Canadian prodco Rainmaker Entertainment, then called Mainframe Entertainment, where he produced Spider-Man: The New Animated Series for Sony and MTV, among others.

The announcement was made by Discreet Arts founder and CEO Srikanth Pottekula.
