WE tv sees more Love After Lockup

WE tv original Love After Lockup from Sharp Entertainment

AMC Networks-owned WE tv has ordered another 10 episodes for the second season of its hit reality series Love After Lockup following a dramatic increase in audience since its debut run.

The series, which was the fastest-growing cable reality show last year, explores relationships in which one half of the couple is in prison, tracking the emotional journey of a prison release and life together after months or years of correspondence, supervised visits and highly structured interactions and expectations.

Seven episodes into its sophomore season, Love After Lockup delivered over 1.3 million total viewers, double that of the season premiere, convincing WE tv management to extend the 14-episode run.

The new episodes will introduce new couples negotiating the tricky relationships that can occur when a partner one has only ever seen in prison is released.

“We knew we had a compelling concept with this series and to see viewers respond like this is beyond gratifying,” said Marc Juris, WE tv’s president. “This is a challenging show to produce, but the results that wind up on screen are worth it.”

Produced by New York-based Sharp Entertainment, Love After Lockup is exec produced by Matt Shar and Dan Adler, alongside WE tv’s Lauren P Gellert, Kate Farrell and David Stefanou.
