WBTV taps ABC veteran Dummer

Warner Bros Television (WBTV) has hired former ABC Entertainment exec Vicki Dummer as executive VP and head of current programming.

In her new role, Dummer will be responsible for managing creative affairs for all current scripted series produced by WBTV across all platforms, including WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, external streaming services, premium and basic cable channels and the five US broadcast networks.

Dummer will also supervise WBTV’s newly structured current programming team, with Odetta Watkins, Rachel Filippelli and Kelly Goode serving as senior leaders of the department and reporting to her.

Dummer joins WBTV after nearly 25 years at ABC Entertainment, where she most recently served as head of current series programming for 10 years. In that role, she was responsible for all scripted shows for ABC including Black-ish, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family and The Good Doctor.

Before that, Dummer was exec VP of daytime and current series and specials programming, after having served as senior VP of alternative series, specials and late night.

In that position, she developed series such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Supernanny, Shark Tank and Wipeout, and supervised Jimmy Kimmel Live! and long-running formats The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars.

Dummer began her ABC career in the comedy series programming department, where she worked on shows including 8 Simple Rules, Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
