WBITVP’s André Renaud and Nick Smith of All3Media Int’l named co-chairs of FRAPA

Nick Smith and André Renaud

The Format Recognition and Protection Association (FRAPA) has appointed André Renaud and Nick Smith as co-chairs of its management board.

Richard Ager, Fremantle’s exec VP of legal and business affairs, global entertainment, has also been confirmed as the new FRAPA treasurer.

The appointments follow last month’s news that long-serving duo Phil Gurin and Lisette van Diepen will be stepping down from the board.

Renaud is global VP of finished and format sales at Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP). He joined in late 2024 to lead commercial sales and strategic activities across brands including The Bachelor, First Dates, Cash or Trash and Reality Queens of the Jungle, as well as scripted format IP such as The Mentalist, Footballers Wives and The Twelve.

Before WBITVP, he was senior VP of global format sales for BBC Studios, where he managed the licensing of Dancing with the Stars into its 60th territory (Mongolia), The Great Bake Off to its 40th (Algeria), Doctor Foster to the Philippines, Slovakia and Japan, and the 1% Club to 12 new markets.

His CV also includes a 13-year stint at ITV Studios, where he was responsible for bringing Come Dine with Me to Belgium and South Africa and Hell’s Kitchen to Italy.

Smith, All3Media International’s exec VP of formats and licensing, brings more than 20 years of experience in the formats industry.

He currently oversees All3Media’s international productions, including rolling out The Traitors into more than 30 territories, format acquisition, strategy and offscreen licensing, including the launch of Race Across The World: The Experience and The Traitors Live.

The appointments of Renaud, Smith and Ager completes the restructuring of FRAPA’s management board. They join current member Bianca Rootsaert.

FRAPA’s advisory board is also made up of industry professionals, including the recently appointed Pascal Dalton of Shimmer Media, Maria Chiara Duranti of Formatbiz, Helen Greatorex of Banijay Entertainment, Adam Steinman of Blink49 and Nathalie Wogue.
