With the promotion, Decker will oversee licensing and distribution of all WBD film, TV, animation and digital content to third-party platforms in North America, in addition to direct-to-consumer digital and physical retail sales.

He will assume the role on January 2, reporting to WBD chief revenue and strategy officer Bruce Campbell.

Decker, who was formerly exec VP of content licensing, has been with Warner Bros for almost two decades. During his tenure, he has been involved in deals including the one that took The Jennifer Hudson Show to local TV stations across the US.

During his 24-year stint with Warner Bros, Wuthrich has played a key part in expanding its home entertainment business, including overseeing the team that devised the SVoD windowing strategy for movies after they left theatres.

“Licensing our world-class content to premier partners is one of Warner Bros Discovery’s strategic pillars and will be a key driver of our company in the years ahead,” said Campbell.

“I’m excited to see David’s expertise and collaborative leadership style applied to the whole of our content distribution business.”

On Wuthrich’s departure, he added: “Jim brought tremendous value and industry-defining strategy to Warner Bros. It is truly remarkable and we thank him for that. If you know Jim, you know it will be interesting to see what he does next. I know I’ll be watching.”
