Warp Films’ Ryan joins Ink Factory

The Ink Factory, the London- and LA- based prodco behind The Night Manager, has hired Warp Films exec Barry Ryan as head of production.

Barry Ryan

Ryan replaces Tracey Josephs, who left the Endeavor Content-backed company last month, according to Deadline.

Reporting to creative director Katherine Butler and chief operating officer Rod Henwood, Ryan will oversee production of the company’s slate of series and feature films, working with the teams in both London and LA.

Ryan joins from Warp Films where, as head of production for 19 years, he was responsible for the management and production of all the films and television projects on Warp’s slate.

His credits include musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Xavier Dolan’s The Death & Life of John F Donovan, Ben Wheatley’s Kill List and Paul Wright’s For Those in Peril.

Ryan also produced Grow Your Own, written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Carl Hunter and directed by Richard Laxton, and Dead Man’s Shoes, Warp’s first feature.

Butler and Henwood said: “We are thrilled that after such a long and successful tenure at Warp Films, Barry has chosen to join The Ink Factory overseeing our production slate. He has an incredible track record in both TV and film and brings both knowledge and experience to the company, along with long-standing industry relationships.

“His expansive skillset working across all sectors of the TV and film industries, combined with his experience in training and mentoring, make him an invaluable addition to the Ink team.”

Ryan said: “After 19 years at Warp Films, it is going to be a huge wrench to leave, but I couldn’t resist the lure of a company of The Ink Factory’s calibre. With access to some of the world’s most exciting creators, writers and directors and with incredibly talented and creative teams in both London and LA, it is going to be both a privilege and a joy to work on the exciting slate of upcoming new projects.”
