WarnerMedia strikes first-look deal with German-Turkish filmmaker Fatih Akin

WarnerMedia has struck a multi-year first-look deal with German-Turkish filmmaker Fatih Akin.

The pact covers German and Turkish-language content including movies and series for TV, HBO Max and theatrical release.

Akin, who has not entered into a first-look agreement previously in his career, has already produced three movies with WarnerMedia: 2017 Golden Globe winner Aus dem Nichts (In the Fade), Der Goldene Handschuh (The Golden Glove) and upcoming feature Rheingold.

“We know how important local content is to our audiences and together with Fatih we want to produce some great German and Turkish-language content. We are looking forward to continuing our work with this incredibly talented director and writer,” said Hannes Heyelmann, executive VP, programming, EMEA.

Director, producer and screenwriter Akin’s other film credits include Head-On (2004), The Edge of Heaven (2007) and Soul Kitchen (2009).
