Warner Bros Television Group gets first look at Goldwyn/Rosenfelt Productions

Rosenfelt and Goldwyn exec produced Dopesick, starring Michael Keaton

Warner Bros Television Group has signed a first-look deal with the fledgling production company from former Paramount Pictures execs John Goldwyn and Karen Rosenfelt.

Goldwyn/Rosenfelt Productions marks a formal reunion for the pair, who previously worked together for nearly 15 years at Paramount Pictures before they both became independent producers.

Under the terms of the multi-year first-look agreement, the financial details of which were not disclosed, Rosenfelt and Goldwyn will develop original scripted programming – including dramas, comedies and limited series – to be produced through Warner Bros Television for all platforms.

This includes Warner Bros Discovery’s HBO Max, plus external streaming services, cable and the five US broadcast networks.

Most recently, Rosenfelt and Goldwyn were executive producers of the Hulu limited series Dopesick, which received 14 Emmy nominations.

Goldwyn was previously an exec producer of series such as Dexter and the revival Dexter: New Blood, the Manhunt franchise, MacGruber and Gracepoint. He has also produced feature films including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, starring Ben Stiller; Baby Mama, starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler; and Todd Haynes’ I’m Not There, about the many lives of Bob Dylan.

Prior to becoming an independent producer, Goldwyn held roles such as president and then vice-chairman of Paramount Pictures’ motion picture group, overseeing hits such as Saving Private Ryan, Titanic, Mission: Impossible, Braveheart and Forrest Gump.

Rosenfelt was previously a producer on the Twilight Saga series of films, based on the books by Stephanie Meyer, which grossed nearly US$3.5bn at the global box office.

She is currently exec producing Amazon series The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is in production on its second season. Her many motion picture producing credits include The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, the four movies in the Alvin & the Chipmunks franchise, both Percy Jackson films, Me Before You and Yogi Bear. Before becoming an independent producer, Rosenfelt was co-president of production at Paramount Pictures.
