Set in the City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets.

The first season will be made up of 13 episodes and will go into production with Warner Bros Television later this year for a debut on the service in 2019.

Gotham’s John Stephens and Danny Cannon will be the executive producers of Metropolis, which is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC.

Warner Bros’ Digital Networks Group unveiled plans for its DC Entertainment streamer in 2017. The service will launch this year featuring exclusive series based on DC’s comic book characters.

Metropolis marks the fourth show to be announced for the service, following live-action drama Titans, as well as Warner Bros Animation’s Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders.
