Warner Bros. Discovery’s Jason Sarlanis and ITV America’s David George to lead Unscripted strand at Content London 2024

Jason Sarlanis, president of TNT, TBS, TruTV, ID and HLN, linear and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), and David George, CEO of ITV America, are the first speakers announced to headline the Unscripted strand at Content London 2024.

The three-day event, which runs from December 3-5, with registration and the opening-night screenings taking place on December 2, will focus on How To Navigate The New Content Economy, with Unscripted playing a central role in the agenda.

The three-day Unscripted strand, combining keynote thought leadership interviews and commissioning and content strategies sessions from broadcasters, channels and platforms around the world, will bring together the global unscripted business to create fresh partnerships and fund new programming.

Speaking at Content London:

Jason Sarlanis, president, TNT, TBS, TruTV, ID & HLN, linear and streaming, WBD

Sarlanis oversees programming development, production, content strategy and operations as well as a slate of true crime originals on Max and Discovery+.

Appointed to the role of president of ID in July 2021, Sarlanis has delivered breakout hits that spark national conversation including Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, House of Hammer, The Price of Glee, Jared From Subway: Catching a Monster and The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.

A skilled storyteller with a strong ability to create buzzy pop culture moments, Sarlanis’s role was expanded to include oversight of TNT, TBS, TruTV and HLN in December 2022. Under his leadership, TBS revived Friday Night Vibes, the monthly talk series that celebrates popular films with diverse voices, and Stupid Pet Tricks, the highest-rated premiere of a TBS original in three years.

Sarlanis joined Discovery in 2016 as senior VP, development, at TLC.  Prior to joining Discovery, he worked for a variety of other global media companies, including tenures at ABC, Ryan Seacrest Productions and E!.

David George, CEO, ITV America

George is CEO of ITV America, one of the largest producers of unscripted content in the US. He is responsible for all creative development, production and operations across the group, which encompasses production labels ITV Entertainment (Love Island USA, Queer Eye), Leftfield Pictures (Alone, Pawn Stars), Sirens Media (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Thinkfactory Media (Mama June), High Noon Entertainment (Farmhouse Fixer, Good Bones) and Good Caper Content (New York Homicide, Escaping Twin Flames).

During his tenure, George has ushered in breakthrough series, such as Netflix’s 11-time Emmy winner Queer Eye and The History Channel’s ground-breaking survival series Alone, while also overseeing other long-running hits, including Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen. George was also instrumental in importing UK mega-hit Love Island to the US, and in turn, launching Love Island USA on Peacock. The series’ success on the streamer has also spawned 2023 spin-off Love Island Games.

Prior to ITV America, George was CEO of Leftfield Entertainment, helping expand the Leftfield production group. He began his career at MTV, where he executive produced and oversaw the network’s iconic Total Request Live, as well as other series, live events and specials, including the Emmy-nominated Legally Blonde: The Musical.
