Warner Bros Discovery (WBD)-owned HBO Max has launched in India exclusively on JioHotstar, the streaming giant co-owned by Disney and Reliance Industries.

The HBO Max hub offers content from HBO, Max Originals, Warner Bros Pictures, Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. JioHotstar subscribers can add it to their plans for an additional cost, with prices starting from INR49 (US$0.52) per month.

Drama series include seasons three of YA hit Euphoria and Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, in addition to library content such as sitcoms Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

The upcoming series adaptation of Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone will also be available when it launches at the end of this year.

JioHotstar was formed by the merger between JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar last year and claims to have 300 million paying users in India.

James Gibbons, president of APAC at WBD, said: “India is one of the most vibrant streaming markets globally, and in JioHotstar we have a partner with unmatched scale and a deep understanding of local audiences.

“The launch of HBO Max exclusively with JioHotstar marks the next chapter in our long-standing collaboration, enabling us to broaden the reach of our premium brands and franchises, and build deeper connections with fans across the country.”
