Warner Bros Discovery UK commissions factual trio for Quest, Discovery+

Warner Bros Discovery UK has commissioned three series for its linear channels and streaming service Discovery+, plus new episodes of Kings of the Wood, MotorPickers, Fifth Gear: Recharged and Wheeler Dealers.

Victoria Noble

Quest will air Secret Life of the Auction House (8×60′, working title), a Curve Media series that goes behind the scenes to show the inner workings of Hansons Auctioneers in south-west London.

Each episode unveils a variety of objects from the first edition of a Harry Potter book and Queen Victoria’s night dress, to a Victorian vampire-slaying kit and cake from Charles and Dianna’s royal wedding.

Also airing on Quest in 2023 are Vintage Brokers (w/t, 8×60′), in which antique dealers compete to find their clients the perfect antique item, and Supercar Airport (w/t, 8×60′), in which a supercar-dealer supremo gives potential buyers a unique test-drive experience at an airport runway at twice the legal speed limit. The two shows are produced by Ricochet and Air TV, respectively.

The series were commissioned by Victoria Noble, VP of factual commissioning at Warner Bros Discovery, and are executive produced by Oliver Wilson and Jon Stephens.

Returning to Quest in 2023 are North One-produced Fifth Gear: Recharged (8×60′), Worker Bee-produced MotorPickers (10×30′) and Ricochet- and Krempelwood-produced Kings of the Wood (10×60′).

The 18th season of Betty TV-produced Wheeler Dealers, meanwhile, will debut on Discovery Channel in 2023 before airing on Quest in 2024.

Noble said: “These shows speak to our audience’s passion points, whether that’s trading antiques, crafts and DIY or motoring. We are excited to not only bring back fan favourites that serve their interests but continue to unearth new series that build further on our deep factual library that continues to power people’s passions.”

Elsewhere, as India celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on its 75th year of Independence, Warner Bros Discovery has commissioned The Journey of India, narrated by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.

Premiering on October 10 on Discovery+ in the Philippines and India, the show also airs in India on the Discovery Channel, TLC, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo and DTamil on the same day. It will be available on Discovery+ and across the Discovery network globally – more premiere details will be available soon.
