VTM in Belgium is set to launch a local version of US broadcast network CBS’s competition format Tough As Nails, marking its first international version.

The show sees competitors tested for their strength, endurance, agility, mental toughness and life skills in challenges that take place at real job sites.

ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group shops the show globally and last year signed a multi-territory deal with European producer and distributor Fremantle.

This saw Fremantle pick up the rights to remake the show in numerous territories, including Belgium.

The format premiered on CBS in the US in 2020. It is currently in its third season and has been renewed for a fourth.

In the US, the series is produced by Raquel Productions and Tough House Productions and executive produced by married duo Louise and Phil Keoghan, with the latter also serving as the show’s host.

Fremantle also holds the rights in Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the UK.
