ViX+, The Immigrant agree scripted deal, start work on thriller Una Noche

Una Noche centres on sexual harassment allegations against a teacher

TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language streamer ViX+ has agreed a scripted pact with Fremantle- and Bron Ventures-backed prodco The Immigrant.

The first project unveiled under the multi-project deal is limited series thriller Una Noche (One Night), which went into production recently in Mexico City. The Immigrant is also developing two other ViX+ originals under the deal.

Una Noche tells the story of a young high school teacher who is tasked with investigating sexual harassment accusations against her friend and fellow teacher. As the case unfolds, she relives haunting memories from her own past at the same time as looking for justice in the present.

The project is directed by Inés Barrionuevo, Analeine Cal y Mayor and Cris Gris and written by Adriana Pelusi. It stars Paulina Dávila, Alicia Jaziz and Christopher Von Uckerman.

SVoD platform ViX+, which officially launched in the US, Mexico and most of Spanish-speaking Latin America in July, plans to launch around 70 new shows in its first year.

The streamer has been commissioning a vast array of scripted and unscripted titles, including La Mujer del Diablo, María Félix: La Doña and cartel docuseries Mi Vecino El Cartel, and lining up deals with the likes of The Mediapro Studio and Propagate Fuego.

The Immigrant, which has offices in the US, Mexico, Colombia and Spain, was co-founded in 2019 by Camila Jimenez and Silvana Aguirre, whose credits include the Univision and Netflix drama series El Chapo.
