VIS’s Guillermo Borensztein takes up TelevisaUnivision licensing, copro role

Spanish-language media giant TelevisaUnivision has hired former ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS) exec Guillermo Borensztein as senior VP of international content licensing and coproduction.

Borensztein will be tasked with leading the Miami-based company’s content licensing efforts internationally and spearheading coproduction deals for linear and streaming originals.

He will report to both Michael Schwimmer, president of global platform strategy and revenue, and Pierluigi Gazzolo, president and chief transformation officer.

During his time at VIS, Borensztein led content sales and the coproduction business, in addition to spearheading the launch of its film division.

Schwimmer said Borensztein’s market knowledge will add “tremendous value” as the company accelerates its international expansion strategy.

Borensztein joins other recent additions to the distribution team including Rita Herring, senior VP of international distribution and Michael Angus, executive VP of US distribution.
