VIS, Fasten meet Spanish Pastor

ViacomCBS’s global production arm, ViacomCBS International Studios (VIS), and Barcelona-based prodco Fasten Films are teaming up to coproduce a Spanish-language drama about a troubled priest titled Pastor.

The series follow Antonio, a committed but controversial priest who has spent years working for the most disadvantaged while leading a life full of contradictions and sin. Driven by the rage and frustration from the injustices he witnesses in his daily life, Antonio ends up crossing a line, causing him to change his faith forever.

The 10×50’ drama has been created and written by Natxo López, co-creator of Stolen Away and writer for Caronte, and will be directed by Jorge Dorado (The Head, Anna, El Ministerio del Tiempo). It will be pitched to buyers from the beginning of 2022.

López desciribes the story as “the tale of a beaten man who decides to fight to improve the lives of his peers. He’s a complex main character, whose questionable behaviour makes us wonder if we’re witnessing the rising of a hero or villain.”

Fasten Films is a film and TV production company lead by producer Adrià Monés. Among its latest productions are Centauro, an original Netflix thriller directed by Daniel Calparsoro.
