Vice hires for UK expansion

Multimedia company Vice has hired Laura Franses, former MD of factual-skewing prodco Nutopia, to spearhead the company’s video content push in the UK.

As MD of Vice UK, Franses will be tasked with bringing the prodco’s content offering to broadcasters and other platforms in much the same way the company has forged partnerships in the US.

The multimedia company is set to launch new digital nets in the fall including fashion channel i-D and a news channel, following the arrival of music-skewing Thump in April.

Franses left her position at Nutopia in June. She co-founded the company, which produced the likes of America: The Story of Us and Mankind: The Story of All of Us for History, alongside Jane Root in 2008.
