Viasat World’s crime spree spreads to Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia

Viasat World is gearing up to launch its fledgling crime-themed television channel in Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia later this month and Croatia later this year.

Viasat True Crime will arrive in the three European countries on September 17, having made its debut in Poland with Canal+ earlier this year.

Viasat World has partnered with Vodafone and T-Mobile in Czechia, Slovak Telekom and T-2 Slovenia for the launches. The channel will also launch in Croatia on Croatian Telecom’s TV platforms in the coming months.

Viasat True Crime focuses exclusively on true crime programming, including documentaries of shocking real-life cases, chilling true crime drama series and gripping crime-fighting reality shows.

Titles include The Moors Murders (Abacus Media Rights), BTK: Confessions of a Serial Killer (A&E Networks), The Rapist’s Journal (Viaplay), Soham Catching A Killer (ITV Studios), The Clown and the Candyman (Cineflix Rights) and The Real Serpent: Investigating a Serial Killer (Abacus Media Rights).

It also features premium true crime drama, including films and series which tell the stories of some of the most notorious and unsettling crimes of our age.

Benjamin Groocock, CEO for Viasat World said more launches of the channel are planned in other territories.

Zdeněk Spurný, manager of TV and partner development at T-Mobile, said: “The popularity of TV programmes within the true crime genre has been growing for a long time, especially amongst our Czech and Slovak customers.”
